According to Portland Police, at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday officers witnessed what they believed to be a drug transaction in the area of 55 Portland St.

Police say that an attempt to stop the subject led to a foot chase, which ended about a block away near 58 Alder St., where the subject was taken into custody.

Arrested was 18-year-old Cole Swan of Yarmouth on charges of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs (cocaine) and refusing to submit to arrest.

Portland Police say Swan was in possession of two grams of cocaine base as well as a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest.
