Planned Parenthood of Northern New England’s Maine-based Political Action Committee (PAC) is spending thousands of dollars to unseat an incumbent House Democrat who voted against Gov. Janet Mills’ late-term abortion bill last year, according to expenditure filings with the Maine Ethics Commission.
Democratic State Rep. Bruce White, who represents part of Waterville in House District 65, was one of just a handful of House Democrats to vote against the highly controversial abortion bill — LD 1619 — last June.
Signed into law by Gov. Mills on July 17, 2023, LD 1619 dramatically expanded access to late-term abortion in Maine by allowing women to abort their baby “after viability” if it is deemed “necessary in the professional judgment of a physician.”
Internal text messages between Democratic House leadership sent during consideration of LD 1619 in the House on June 22, 2023, showed House Majority Leader Maureen Terry (D-Gorham) complaining that the only Democrats opposed to LD 1619 were “all older white guys.”

Now, the Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund PAC is funneling thousands of dollars to Rep. Bruce White’s Democratic primary opponent, Cassie Julia, in the leadup to the state’s June 11 primary elections.
Expenditure reports recently filed with the Maine Ethics Commission show Planned Parenthood’s PAC spent $2,620 in support of Cassie Julia on April 25, 2024, through Moxie Media, a political direct-mail advertising firm.
On May 9, 2024, Planned Parenthood spent just over $3,700 on mailers in opposition to Rep. White and in support of Julia.
On Cassie Julia’s campaign site, attached directly below her picture is the logo and slogan of Planned Parenthood’s Maine PAC, with a caption reading “PROUDLY ENDORSED BY PLANNED PARENTHOOD MAINE ACTION PAC.”
Additionally, Julia boasts that she is a “progressive candidate,” and listed as the first item in her “top legislative priorities” is that she is standing as “the only pro-choice primary candidate in this district.”
Both White and Julia are running as “clean election” candidates.

Planned Parenthood now offers not just one, but two options for disposing of your baby – you may either pull the plug during any trimester, or more recently, thanks to Governor Northam, you may now “keep it comfortable” after birth, before deciding on infanticide.
