Democratic Congressman Jared Golden of Maine’s 2nd District on Wednesday issued a statement calling for a vote on a bill that would establish legal protections for a “right to contraception” and sterilization.

The bill in question, the “Right to Contraception Act,” would enshrine access to contraceptives as “a fundamental right, central to an individual’s privacy, health, well-being, dignity, liberty, equality, and ability to participate in the social and economic life of the Nation.”

Contraceptives, as set forth in the bill, are defined as any drug or device intended to prevent pregnancy, as well as “sterilization procedures.”

The bill would also allow the Department of Justice and health care providers to sue any state or government official that implements or enforces limitations on access to contraceptives.

Rep. Golden, who cosponsored the legislation, announced on Wednesday, said that he would be signing a discharge petition to attempt to force a vote on the bill in the Republican-controlled House.

That petition has a total of 193 signatories as of Thursday afternoon, short of the absolute majority of 218 needed to bring the bill to the floor.

“The Supreme Court upheld the right to access contraception in the landmark Griswold decisions in 1965, but the repeal of Roe v. Wade has emboldened those who seek to limit access and impede health care providers — not only with regard to abortion, but contraception too,” Golden said in his Wednesday statement.

“Supporting American families includes supporting the right of Americans to decide for themselves how and when to have children,” Golden said. “The House should get a chance to vote on this bill.”

The problem with contraception is that it will cause the fertility rate to drop further below the replacement rate, leading to a slow but guaranteed human extinction.

Enough already. Nobody wants dems to reproduce, not even themselves so what’s the problem.

With all the damned problems we face this is what this twit focuses on. Maybe the dems will sterilize/contracept/abort themselves out of existence. Gotta kill and prevent those evil babies after all. The party of death!

Nice pic of Golden standing next to SOS Sheena Bellows, who tried to block President Trump from appearing on the Maine Ballot. Yes, I do think it fair to judge him by the left wing company he keeps.

“Right to Contraception Act,”
This just sounds like another government give away paid for by the taxpayers. Thanks Jared. Time to send him and Bellows packing. It’s too bad tar and feathers aren’t in vogue anymore.

I thought this was lawful anyway why do we need more laws or does mean this can be done without your written permission. This can be the governments decision like CHINA, only 1 or 2 children per couple.
