A Congolese illegal alien was arrested last month at the Maine-Canada border and is being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail as the District Attorney’s office pursues an order to have him extradited to the Iowa over active warrants related to a sexual assault conviction.

Eric R. Ngirimpa, 36, was delivered into the custody of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) dropped him at the U.S. Customs & Border Protection’s Jackman station on May 29, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

The RCMP informed a sheriff’s deputy that Ngirimpa had an active arrest warrant out of Iowa for a sexual assault conviction, which also led to the revocation of his Canadian visa.

Upon confirming the active Iowa warrant, the sheriff’s deputy arrested Ngirimpa and charged him with being a “Fugitive from Justice.”

Ngrimpa, whose last known residence was in Quebec, is listed in Iowa’s sex offender registry for a 2016 conviction for assaulting a woman with the intent to commit sexual abuse.

According to Iowa media reports, Ngrimpa was charged in 2015 with third-degree sexual abuse, charges which could have gotten him up to 10 years in prison.

Ngirimpa is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail on a probation hold without bail.

Bail for the Fugitive from Justice charge has been set at $50,000 cash.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 28, 2024, in the Somerset County Unified Criminal Court.

The Somerset County District Attorney’s Office is collaborating with the Iowa authorities to secure a Governor’s warrant for Ngirimpa’s extradition back to Iowa.

Additionally, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has placed a detainer hold on him, meaning he will be deported once the U.S. criminal proceedings conclude.

Ngirimpa is originally from the Republic of Congo, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Every politician who votes or advocates open borders and illegals is responsible.

All Canada did was “kick him out” and he ended up in Maine!? Huh? Weird. Doesn’t Canada own millions of acres of Maine land that they strip for pulp and sell to China and dams that prevent fish migration and produce energy that they sell to Spain? Seems like Canada is trying to undermine America and make a fool out of the dumb Maine infidels.

That ICE detainer will be enforced in Iowa. Not if Maine had the guy.
I can only imagine what the Maine DA is negotiating on the terms of his being sent back to Iowa.

I’m surprised General Shills isn’t negotiating to keep him here; he seems like the type of “New Mainer” she wants to attract. Isn’t diversity wonderful!
