A Maine woman was sentenced in a Bangor federal court on Wednesday for speeding away from a U.S. immigration checkpoint in Aroostook County and leading Border Patrol agents on a high-speed pursuit.
Chief U.S. District Judge Lance Walker sentenced 25-year-old Shania England of Lincoln, Maine, to 79 days time served and three years of supervised release.
England previously pleaded guilty to the charge of fleeing and evading a U.S. immigration checkpoint in February 2024.
According to court records, in May 2023, England and a passenger were traveling southbound on I-95 when they were stopped at an immigration checkpoint in Sherman being operated by U.S. Border Patrol.
Prosecutors alleged that when a Border Patrol agent instructed England to pull over to a secondary inspection area, she took off and sped away down the interstate.
A high-speed chase ensued over eight miles, after which Border Patrol agents were able to apprehend England after she crashed her vehicle in a ditch, according to the Maine U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The case was investigated by U.S. Border Patrol with assistance from the East Millinocket Police Department.

Shania really thought this one through.
What about the illegal from Biddeford with 3 other illegals in the car in an accident last winter. What has happened to them?
WOW! Thank-you, Border Patrol Officials Of Maine, for saving us from drivers who attempt to bypass your check-points! God knows what evil might have befallen us all if they hadn’t caught her!!!
So, what’s the tab for 79 days of jail for this young woman, plus 3 years of extra supervision, for We the Regressive Taxpayers? Did the Border Patrol actually save us from something nasty, or were they just looking after their phony-baloney jobs?
