Three people in a Bangor apartment were arrested Thursday afternoon and are facing drug trafficking charges, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) announced Thursday.
Agents from both MDEA and the U.S. DEA, with assistance from the Bangor Police Department, executed a search warrant on Thursday at an apartment located at 54 Charles Street in Bangor.
The search warrant came as the result of a months-long investigation into drug trafficking by MDEA’s North Central Task Force, which included undercover purchases of fentanyl, the agency said.
During the search of the apartment, over 200 grams of cocaine base (crack) was seized, as well as more than 140 grams of fentanyl, $11,287 in suspected drug proceeds and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
MDEA estimated the street value of the seized drugs at $45,000.
The three people arrested were 31-year-old Shameek Harris of New York City, N.Y.; 52-year-old Wenona Lola of Bangor; and 43-year-old Roger Brown, also of Bangor.
All three suspects were charged with Class A aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs — an elevated charge due to the quantity of drugs seized and the presence of firearms, according to MDEA.
Harris, Lola and Brown are being held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail.
“The MDEA stands committed to working with all federal, state, county and local law
enforcement partners in order to continue to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations who are attempting to distribute illicit drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine in the State of Maine,” the agency said in their Thursday press release.
The MDEA’s investigation is ongoing, and the agency indicated that more arrests are likely.
