Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, has agreed to a single debate with former President Donald Trump after he announced a desire for three debates during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago.

“I am looking forward to debating Donald Trump, and we have a date of September 10. I hear he’s finally committed to it, and I’m looking forward to it,” said Vice President Harris when questioned by an NBC reporter.

The reporter also asked her about the other two debates proposed by President Trump, but Harris entirely ignored that portion of the question and walked away instead of answering it.

VP Harris to NBC News in Wayne, MI:

Trump has been attempting to convince Harris to agree to a debate hosted by Fox, to be held on September 4, and would, in return, agree to two debates hosted by more left-leaning media outlets: an ABC debate on September 10, and an NBC debate on September 25.

ABC News’ White House Correspondent Selina Wang clarified Harris’ position on Thursday evening.

“Harris will not agree to the September 4th Fox debate, campaign official tells me. Says future debates are contingent on Trump showing up to @ABC debate on Sept 10th Willing to have convos before Sept 10 about debates after that date So ABC will have 1st Harris/Trump debate,” said Wang on X.

Since President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race in the aftermath of his disastrous debate performance and Harris took over as the party’s presumptive nominee, her campaign has attempted to accuse Trump of “dropping out” of debates.

Democrats and left-wing media outlets have used the false claims that Trump dropped out of debates with Harris to suggest that he is intimidated by the prospect of debating her.

Trump has not, however, dropped out of any debates with Harris, as until the September 10 debate was arranged, he had no set plan to debate Harris.

Trump did have debates arranged with Biden, but the President dropped out of the race before they could take place.

During his Mar-a-Lago conference, Trump also claimed that CBS would host a vice-presidential debate between Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.).

“CBS will do vice presidential, and I have to tell you J.D. Vance has really stepped up, he’s doing a fantastic job,” said Trump.

A date for the vice presidential debate remains unclear, and neither Sen. Vance nor Gov. Walz has publicly confirmed the debate, although Walz has already issued a debate challenge to Vance.

Better to let people think you’re stupid than to open mouth and remove all doubt. Right out of JB’s basement fortress play book.
