A Brownfield man was arrested on multiple drug and firearm charges following a raid conducted by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and Maine State Police at his residence on Wednesday.

During the raid authorities seized an estimated $90,000 in illegal drugs, several firearms, a large amount of ammunition, and over $25,000 cash in suspected drug proceeds.

Maine State Police say the investigation into the Brownfield residence began several weeks ago, due to the suspected illegal possession of firearms by a prohibited person.

Troopers identified the suspect as 52-year-old Joey St. Hilaire, of Brownfield, and learned over the course of their investigation that St. Hilaire was allegedly in possession of several firearms and involved in the distribution of illegal drugs throughout York and Oxford County.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Maine State Police and MDEA agents executed a search warrant at 7 Fulcher Ln. in Brownfield, the residence of St. Hilaire, for the purpose of looking for illegally possessed firearms and ammunition, as well as evidence of any illegal drug-related activity.

State Police and the MDEA say they found several items indicative of drug use and trafficking during an initial search of the home, and subsequently sought an additional search warrant to expand the search for illegal drugs and drug trafficking-related items.

As a result of the search, troopers and MDEA agents seized two firearms — a loaded 9mm handgun and a rifle — as well as over 500 rounds of ammunition.

Also seized was over three and a half pounds (1,675 grams) of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine separately packaged for sale, along with scales and other drug paraphernalia, and over $25,000 cash in suspected drug proceeds.

According to MDEA, the estimated street value of the seized drugs is $90,000.

St. Hilaire, a previously convicted felon was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
