Northern Light Health, the nonprofit that operates some of Maine’s largest health care providers, is bringing back COVID-19 Era mask mandates for all employees.

“Beginning Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 7 am, all staff will be required to wear a Northern Light Health issued masks in all areas,” Deborah M. Sanford, vice president of Nursing and Patient Services, said in a Monday email to employees.
“This change was made led by recommendations from our Infectious Disease team in response to the Maine CDC tracking upward trends of respiratory illness, including influenza and COVID across our state,” Sanford said.
Light A copy of the email was forwarded to the Maine Wire by a Northern Health employee.
According to publicly available data, Maine has had less than 325,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Jan. 1, 2020 and just 3,085 deaths attributed to COVID-19 through the beginning 2025, the vast majority of those individuals being over the age of 65.
It’s not immediately clear from the email whether the mask mandate will apply to all health care workers in the Northern Light Health system or only select facilities.
show me the study masks work again!!….. nothing better than a doctor i already dont trust covering his face so i cant read his expressions… good thing the experts justify wearing a mask…
Useless
Doctors have been wearing masks since the 1670’s to protect patients from infection.
They have proven repeatedly masks don’t work. It’s all about control. Don’t let them do it again!!
They’re trying to identify Trump supporters so they can retaliate against the democratic process.
Nonprofit doesn’t mean there aren’t well paid executives.
