A Brunswick-based LGBTQ advocacy nonprofit will be hosting a “queer wildlife day” later this month, during which participants will learn “how Queerness exists in animal relationships and behaviors.”

Queerly ME will be hosting the “queer wildlife” event on March 24, featuring animal ambassadors from the Center for Wildlife in Cape Neddick — which include various species of turtles, owls, hawks and other animals.

A promotional image posted by Queerly ME features pictures of animals with several LGTBQ-related captions, such as turtles having “non-binary coloration” and “same-sex attraction,” and an owl with the caption “polyamorous relationships.”

Queerly ME was one of the groups that last February partnered with Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (DIFW) for a “Traps+Trails LGBTQAI+ Winter Outdoor Extravaganza.”

“Queerly ME creates thoughtful, intentional spaces in Maine where Queer people can thrive as their authentic selves and make meaningful, long-lasting connections in the LGBTQIA+ community without pressure to conform to the heteronormative or the constraints of binary identity,” the organization states on their website.

“A Brunswick-based LGBTQ advocacy nonprofit….” This line says it all. A “NON PROFIT” that exists on taxpayer money. Reminds me of an old joke from my junior high days…”I’m not queer, my boyfriend is.”
