‘March Against Mills’ Draws Large Protest to Augusta

With a turnout estimated at over 500 Mainers, demonstrators gathered outside the State House in Augusta on Saturday to show their support for protecting girls in school sports from transgender athletes unfairly impacting the playing field, protestors and speakers at the event said.

“We will protect our girls and we will NOT back down!” Assistant House Minority Leader Katrina Smith (R-Palermo) said, explaining “They are the ones who have pushed their agenda on us and we have struggled to be heard … they have belittled biological facts and they have declared war on our girls,” referring to Democrats in the Blaine House, the state legislature, the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Principals’ Association, who have jointly defied an executive order from President Donald Trump to bar biological males from participating in girls’ sports.

“I have always been in support of the LGBTQ community,” Julia Dietrick, a figure skater who came to protest said, adding “I’ve always been here to support them, and I believe this movement is not about the LGBTQ community, it’s about supporting women, and I’m here to support other women.”

Saturday’s demonstration coincided with the first day (March 1) of Women’s History Month.

Momentum for the march grew last week after House Majority Leader Matt Moonen (D-Portland) censured Rep. Laurel Libby (R-Auburn) for posting on Facebook a publicly-available set of photographs showing the same athlete from Cumberland competing one years as a male and the next as a female, winning first place in the latter competition. The Democrat-controlled House moved on Tuesday by a party-line vote of 77-70 to strip Rep. Laurel of her voting and speaking privileges in the legislature.

After the censure, Libby joined X and quickly attracted over 50,000 followers, surpassing the audience on that channel of Governor Janet Mills (D) in a matter of days. Both the Boston Globe and the Wall Street Journal have since published editorials criticizing Libby’s censure.

Speaker Ryan @speakerFecteau, you will “go down in history as the man who silenced a woman for speaking up for girls.” @laurel_libby thank you for standing up and being resilient in the fight for women’s rights.https://t.co/uq735qzHT1

A handful of counter-protestors tried to disrupt Saturday’s rally by beating on plastic tubs with sticks while another waved an upside-down American flag which he proceeded to trash against the ground, but those provocations failed to disrupt the unity of the event supporting girls in school sports.

In two weeks, a follow-up rally is planned also in Augusta on Saturday, March 15th where several state legislators, a prospective gubernatorial candidate and Maine Wire Editor-in-Chief Steve Robinson are scheduled to speak.

    Discrimination bad. Special rights bad.

Acts 10:34 tells us that God is not a respecter of persons. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons . . .” Acts 10:34 (KJV) The Greek word that is translated as “respecter” is prosopolemptes. It means “to show favoritism.”

There, talk amongst yourself whist I get another smear of cream cheese for my bagel.

The treatment of January 6th protesters (held without bail, financial ruination of families attempting to pay for legal defense against a government with limitless resources, and very long prison sentences) were intended to silence further dissent. It worked. Now, however there is no fear for patriots to protest again since the federal agencies have been retaken by patriots. The United States came so close to becoming a totalitarian nation.

There are two genders male and female, period, you’re not only speaking up for the females you’re speaking against the exploitation of mental illness, and for that I’m proud of all of you. The vile individuals that support boys pretending to be girls are creating personal hardships on those affected with mental illness – all for personal financial and political gain, they obviously have become a demonized cult bent in destroying children.

I know this is going to be a slipper slope, but I feel previous comment using Bible scripture to show “Favoritism” is completely the opposite that scripture actually means.

Acts 10:34-35 ESV “So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”

I think this is a clearer understanding of the written word , By adding verse 35 explains verse 34 “does what is right is acceptable to him” is the key phrase here!

To further explain the true meaning one must also look into the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 10:17, 2Chronicles 19:7, Job 34:19) and New Testament (Romans 2:11, 3:29-30, James 2:1) then one will understand that God shows no favoritism or partiality.

They could also call it the “March for common sense”. Our leaders in power in Maine are just more of the contrarian Democrats of today that have no ideas, they just do the opposite of Donald Trump. He could say “drink plenty of water, everyone!” and this far Leftist group of Dems would be putting out articles and protests saying how bad water was for you.
Yea that last part is hyperbole but it’s not all that far off, is it? They’re for kids getting sex change surgeries and getting genitals removed and castrated! When a couple yrs age they laughed when they were warned it was happening. They said that it would never happen. And then when it was proven they moved the goalposts again and are now for it. So yea, I’m not too far off.
Stop being tribal, folks. Left and right. Nobody should have all the views of one side. Both sides do wrong. Just remember that.

I’m confident that THIS will be the issue that finally defeats the democrats in 26 .
A reasonable person can not explain how this nonsense can not be ABUSE of Women and Girls .
The democrats have hooked their train to the LGBTQ activists who HATE the heterosexual population .
The train is coming off the tracks and the democrats evidently are fine with that .
WE WILL DESTROY THEM AT THE POLLS .
