The body found in the attic of a Grant Street apartment building more than two weeks ago has been identified by police as a 49-year-old man from Portland who had been reported missing.

Portland Police were called to 55 Grant St. on the afternoon of April 11, and found a deceased male in the attic area of the building.

Police said at the time that the death did not appear suspicious.

PPD and PFD responded to 55 Grant St. on 4/11/25 at 3:40 p.m. where an unidentified male was discovered deceased in the attic area. At this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious. The PPD is continuing its investigation.

On Tuesday, police announced that they had identified the deceased man as 49-year-old Damian Thomas of Portland, who, they say, had previously been reported missing.

Police issued a public announcement to their social media on March 27 that Thomas had gone missing, saying that he had last been seen in the Portland area in late January and that he had not been in contact with his family, which was unusual for him.

Police reiterated that the death does not appear suspicious, but that their investigation into Thomas’ death is ongoing.
