Harpswell Rep Quietly Withdraws Bill That Would Have Made LGBTQ Education Mandatory for Maine Schools

Rep. Cheryl Golek (D-Harpswell) withdrew a bill from consideration on Monday that would have mandated LGBTQ education curriculum in all public schools across the state.

Golek’s bill, LD 1482, drew strong support from her party, with nine co-sponsors, and would have mandated LGBTQ+ education in the mandatory Maine history and American history courses.

Despite seemingly strong support from her party, Golek quietly requested leave to withdraw her bill, which was granted on Monday.

She did not offer an explanation for her decision, and she did not respond to a request for comment from The Maine Wire.

The withdrawal may have been a reaction to the increased scrutiny faced by the Maine Department of Education for its failure to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order protecting women’s sports by refusing to bar biological males from competing against girls.

Maine’s resistance has already led to a federal lawsuit, along with federal funding cuts.

Golek’s bill would likely have run afoul of one of President Trump’s other orders, “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling.”

What a sick bunch of folks the democrats are, our public schools are just grooming the kids. I wish there were some teachers who protect the children. I am so glad our kids got out years ago, it was bad enough back then.

The attack on Maine children is real. It is spearheaded by mental illness, rage, and perversion.

Parents must stay informed by attending local school board meetings in droves in order to protect Maine children by pushing back against this depravity.

Why does the homofascist agenda need a law to be implemented? It already is in every public school in Maine.

Catering to the finge 0.01% of the population is NOT ACCEPTABLE to 80% of your constituents, Janut!
Grooming our children for a lifetime of sexual depravity is NOT ACCEPTABLE to 80% of the voters, Janut!
Destroying biological (XX-dna) females rights to elevate biological male (XY-dna) fetishes is NOT ACCEPTABLE to 80% of We, the People, and the constitutional republic for which we stand and fight, fight, fight! Janut!
