In Maine, where the transgender issue is playing out in dramatic form before the public eye, Portland public schools superintendent Ryan Scallon claimed that preventing transgender athletes from participating in women’s and girls’ sports is the modern equivalent of the crusades for women’s suffrage and racial equality.
This is an outrageous misappropriation of our history and an appalling display of just how extreme and out-of-touch with reality the Left’s gender ideology truly is.
By attempting to justify their radical agenda and frame themselves as being on the right side of history, Maine Democrats have fully divorced themselves from both historical accuracy and biological reality in a shocking affront to American women and girls.
Allowing men to infiltrate women’s spaces and sports is not a laudable civil rights crusade. The Left’s re-spun historical narrative and projection onto today’s transgender craze is more an insult to those who fought for women’s equal rights and is a disturbing redefinition of the foundational American principles of equality, justice, and human dignity.
It’s tragically ironic that the women’s rights movement, which inspired so much change in a deeply unequal, dehumanizing system, is being appropriated to undermine its own cause – freedom of women from male oppression – in a deceptive, manipulative agenda.
The fact of the matter is the transgender movement is anything but pro-woman, and although it seeks common ground with past social justice campaigns, it is a startling perversion of the privileges these campaigns sought to guarantee for all citizens.
Contrary to their distorted accounting, the Maine Democrats’ agenda in fact strikes at the heart of equal opportunity itself, since it sacrifices women’s fair opportunity to compete on a level playing field and excel against their biological counterparts. It targets women for unfair discrimination by undermining Title IX and privileging the rights of biological men.
This isn’t the preservation of equal opportunity in the slightest, since inclusion that can only be achieved at the expense of excluding another group is not inclusion at all.
Additionally, the comparison of biological male athletes competing in female sports to America’s civil rights movement is both absurd and profoundly disturbing. The exclusion of African Americans from equal opportunity and treatment in American society was based purely upon prejudice, malice, and cruelty.
Their exclusion was unjust because they are inherently equal citizens and have an equal claim upon the rights and privileges of American citizenship, just as today’s women also have a claim that must be honored.
Opposition to transgender athletes competing in female sports is not hateful, unjust, or arbitrarily exclusionary. Acknowledging that biological men should not engage in physical competition with biological women is a fact based upon the undeniable reality that men have an inherent physical advantage over women.
Allowing men into women’s sports arenas destroys any chance for women to excel. The movement to protect female sports is not rooted in the fearmongering, hatred, and ostracism that characterized past civil rights abuses – it’s rooted in scientific reality and the basic principles of fairness and equity.
Ultimately, the position of the Maine Democrats is one divorced from every form of reality: from the reality of our civil rights and suffragist history, from biological reality, and from the reality that most American voters don’t want men in women’s sports.
By framing this as an issue comparable to suffrage and civil rights, the Left is seeking to manipulate Americans into believing their common-sense instinct about preserving women’s sports for biological females is wrong.
In some sense, Scallon is right, though not in the way he intended. Civil rights are indeed being violated, but “female identifying” biological male athletes are the perpetrators of this discrimination and injustice, not the victims. The Maine Democrats’ campaign against female-only sports is an attack upon the very definition of femininity, a dismantling of the sacred virtue of equal opportunity, and a reversal of women’s rights and status in this country.
We cannot cave to the demands of the radical gender ideology mob and accept their alternate reality. We must stand for truth, for justice, for reality – such is the debt of gratitude we owe to the civil rights pioneers who came before us and our duty to the future generations of American girls and women.
Mr. Blackwell is the first African American to be elected statewide office in Ohio – both as State Treasurer and Secretary of State; former mayor of Cincinnati and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.
Call a spade a spade .
Homosexuals became Gays because it “ sounded “ better
Transvestites became Transsexuals . Transsexuals became Transgenders because it sounds better .
Transvestites are men who get off by dressing up like women .
Transgenders are people who call themselves that and think that they are fooling you .
Call them what they are . Queers.
There’s no such thing as a “ trans – sexual “ ….the two sexes can’t transform themselves into a different sex . It’s physically impossible . Mentally maybe , but it’s not possible physically . Get over it .
There’s no such thing as a “ trans gender .”
It’s a ridiculous notion , but the “ queers “ have come up with another more socially accepted term that they’ve got everyone to now repeat and quasi accept .
WTF will these insane people come up with next ?
Well said Mr Blackwell , well said .
You have defined our problem perfectly .
The transgender insanity is just another tool utilized by the Communist Democrat elites to divide and conquer Americans .
My beloved grandmother was born in 1917. Before women were allowed to vote. She was the most patriotic person I’ve ever met. A naturalized citizen, born on PEI, who carried her “papers” as a badge of honor until she died. She volunteered over 5000 hours at the Veteran’s Administration in central Illinois. She took care of my sister and I when we most needed her as teens, she did this without hesitation and without want for money from the government.
I recently sent my teen daughter out of state. Why?
She started using a different name and pronouns at school. I researched the policies and was mortified at the number of safety hazards I could identify. Emergency and Disaster Management, it’s an interest of mine.
We got her away from the friend group (5 “trans” children pop. < 5,000), and this state’s “Transgender Learner Policies”.
I’m 50 this year, I sent my daughter away because my female governor thinks the following are good ideas:
1. Teachers maintaining confidential relationships with minors.
2. Minor children know what’s best for themselves and should be encouraged to keep secrets with “trusted adults”.
3. There is no difference between male and female, anything goes!
4. Parents do not have the right to raise their own children, the state will decide and be influenced by political ideology not reason nor what’s best for children.
105 years ago! It’s no wonder antisemitism is on the rise, they don’t remember the right to vote they will certainly disregard the history of war and the Holocaust.
Is it kindness to tell a child that nature played a trick on them so nefarious that man has to step in and repair them?
50 years on this planet.
This is what society wants? Do they not see that if gender is the priority they have no real issues? They’ve made it to the top of the heap. They are not hungry, thirsty, cold….their only concern is appearance? They think this needs medical intervention? Cosmetic surgery? On Children?
I’m the bad person because I’m completely against this. We’ve gone from “believe all women” to “believe all children” except no questions asked?
So, apparently, Mr. Scallon feels that women who were instrumental in gaining the right for their gender to vote were all suffering from mental illness. There are only two possibilities with this trans thing Scallon; 1. The trans people really are being transformed from one gender to another OR 2. It’s only in their sick minds. Now, Mr. Scallon, which choice do you think a mentally healthy adult will choose as the correct answer ? If you flunk this test you are not fit to be dog catcher let alone a Superintendent of Schools, anywhere.
” is the modern equivalent of the crusades for women’s suffrage and racial equality.”
Completely unimaginative.

The devil said to God,, I can now make man. Therefore, I am of equal. God says, oh yeah go ahead. The devil reaches down to grab a handful of dirt and God says….”.MAKE Your Own Dirt.
Dismissed.
The best thing ole Angus “Virginia Born” King could do to help the offshore wind boondoggle would be to stand on a pedestal down wind from the turbine, the hot air would keep the blades spinning 24 hours a day !! Solar & wind are an absolute waste of time, money and space, unless your name is Angus King ! If in doubt, vote em out !! 👋
In the name of TRUTH, JUSTICE and REALITY, We the People, do not accept the alternate reality and delusions of the radical gender ideology mob. Biological male (XY-dna) athletes, dramatically costumed as female (XX-dna) athletes are actually the PERPETRATORS of this injustice and discrimination to female (XX-dna) athletes and are NOT THE VICTIMS!
“Anyone who has the power to make you believe in absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices.”

The democrats were the party of the KKK then, and they are the party of the war on woman now!
“-it’s rooted in scientific reality and the basic principles of fairness and equity.” You cannot use the words fairness and equity as complimentary terms. Equity is “equality of outcome”. Isn’t that the exact opposite of “fairness”? Be more discerning with the words you choose in the future. It makes us look stupid.
