The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office last week raided the American Lodge in Fairfield, resulting in one arrest and the seizure of over a dozen grams of fentanyl and other illegal drugs.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant for the American Lodge on Main Street in Fairfield was obtained after a month-long investigation into reports of illegal drugs being sold by the occupants of the lodge.
At about 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, investigators, deputies and officers from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and Waterville Police Department executed the drug search warrant at the residence.
Authorities found over 13 grams of fentanyl and cocaine during the search, as well as digital scales, illicit drug related documentation and illicit drug related paraphernalia, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Arrested was Adrianna Velez, 19, of Fairfield, who was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing in scheduled drugs, and two counts of violating conditions of release.
This marks the second drug raid at the location this year. In late January, 22-year-old Marissa Grover was arrested there also on charges involving both fentanyl and cocaine. The American Lodge is listed as “closed” on multiple Internet reference sites.
The Sheriff’s Office said the drug trafficking charge was elevated to aggravated, a Class A felony offense, due to the amount of fentanyl seized.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, at the time of her arrest, Velez was out on two sets of bail for unrelated criminal matters.
Velez is being held at the Somerset County Jail, where her bail was set at $25,000 cash, or $1,000 cash under a Supervised Community Confinement Program (SCCP) contract, with conditions that she is not to use or possess any illegal drugs. Her initial court date is set for 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2025, at the Somerset County Unified Criminal Court.
Booking records from the Somerset County Jail indicate that Velez is a U.S. citizen.
Criminal charges against a second person targeted by the investigation are expected following a review of the case by the District Attorney’s Office.
Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster said on Tuesday that in this case, as well as in several of their other recent drug investigations, investigators found cocaine that had been laced with fentanyl.
