The Rockland police department’s patrols for drivers operating under the influence (OUI) led to a slew of drug arrests over the weekend.

“Rockland Police would like to remind folks to never mix alcohol or other substances with driving and that tonight (8/2) we will again have additional staff doing OUI patrols, funded in part by a grant through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety,” said the department on Facebook.

Overnight enforcement activities from Friday to Saturday led to seven arrests.

On Saturday, officers initiated a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation. During the stop, officers became suspicious that there were drugs in the vehicle, and allegedly observed the driver, Lynn Libby, 61, of Rockland attempting to destroy evidence.

One passenger, Wanda Chipman, 64, of Rockland was reportedly found in possession of five grams of cocaine. Both face charges for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs

Other arrests during the enforcement activity include:

  • Sandra Benner, 64, of South Thomaston charged with OUI (drugs) and possession of crack cocaine.
  • Mason St. Louis, 26, of Damariscotta, charged with OUI (with priors).
  • Autumn Kirkpatrick, 21, of Washington, charged with OUI.
  • Ronald Shellman, 51, of Warren, charged with crack cocaine and fentanyl possession.
  • Kayla Naum, 25, of Camden, charged with OUI.
