A routine traffic stop on Tuesday in Rockland led to two arrests following a brief struggle with officers after they allegedly discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

At noon on Tuesday, Rockland police officers initiated a traffic stop on Thompson Meadow Road, and became concerned that the driver, Jennifer Kunn, 36, of Thomaston, was operating under the influence.

During the stop, officers allegedly spotted drugs and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, leading them to attempt a search of the passenger, Lance Chipman, 38, also of Thomaston.

Chipman allegedly attempted to physically resist officers to prevent them from conducting their search, though officers were able to subdue and arrest him.

During the search, officers reportedly discovered three grams of crack-cocaine, and 29 grams of cocaine, which they believe Chipman was attempting to conceal or destroy before they could be discovered.

Kunn faces charges for operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and drug possession. She was previously arrested for theft, drug possession, and violating release conditions in 2023.

Chipman faces felony drug trafficking charges, along with charges for drug possession and refusing to submit to arrest. He has a history of drug trafficking arrests, with one in 2023.
