A routine Rockland traffic stop on Tuesday led to a drug arrest as police celebrated their crackdown on drug crimes throughout the city.
Police stopped a vehicle outside a house known for illegal drug use due to a registration violation.
During the stop, the police came to suspect that the driver, Cory Breen, 37, was operating under the influence of illegal drugs.
A Rockland police Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) allegedly confirmed that Breen was under the influence of drugs, and a search of his vehicle reportedly revealed an unspecified small amount of crack cocaine.
Breen was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
A Facebook account for a Cory Breen living in Rockland whose name matches the suspect’s appears to reveal that this is not his first serious driving-related offense.
Based on the account, he received his license back in 2021 following a years-long license revocation.

The police department used the arrest to tout the success of its proactive drug enforcement activities.
In 2025, Rockland police made 50 OUI arrests, and Rockland DREs assisted with 20 drug-related OUIs in the city and surrounding towns.
“Rockland Police have made multiple narcotics arrests through proactive and directed patrols and executed a number of narcotics related search warrants in the past year,” said the department.
