The Auburn Police Department arrested an Auburn man on Monday following a minor sexual assault investigation that lasted over a month.

On August 25, police received a report from a 17-year-old victim that she had been sexually assaulted twice by a man known to her previously.
Auburn Police mounted an investigation that lasted until Monday.
Over the course of the investigation, police learned that the suspect had allegedly provided the victim with alcohol and marijuana before the reported sexual assault.
Police eventually identified Jean Ruhangintwari, 32, of Auburn, as the suspect and took him into custody on Monday.
He faces charges for gross sexual assault class B, gross sexual assault class C, aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs, furnishing liquor to a minor, allowing a minor to possess or consume liquor, and assault.
Ruhangintwari was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail and issued a $5,000 bail.
Police thanked the victim and the victim’s family for coming forward.
