The New Hampshire State Police arrested a California man, Gongping Cheng, 39, of Monterey Park, on Monday after he was discovered with numerous false identities following a high-speed chase.

At around 9:30 p.m., NH State Police Trooper Patrick Vetter spotted a blue Chevrolet Malibu traveling at 98 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on I-95 Northbound in Hampton Falls.

Vetter attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Cheng reportedly refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

The chase continued into Portsmouth, where Sgt. Gary Wood Jr. successfully deployed road spikes. Cheng allegedly drove over the spikes, causing at least one of his tires to deflate.

Despite this, the suspect reportedly continued for a short time and eventually came to a stop around Exit 3.

When officers reached his car, Cheng reportedly continued to resist arrest, but after a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

Troopers determined that Cheng allegedly possessed “several” false driver’s licenses for different states and had “numerous” false identities.

Cheng faces four felony counts of forgery, 16 misdemeanor counts of driver’s license prohibitions, and additional charges of disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, resisting arrest, and reckless operation.
