At around 9:00 p.m., a state trooper conducted a traffic stop on Skyway Drive in Portland on a vehicle driven by Abdullahi Ahmed Mohamud, 29, of South Portland, due to a defective taillight.

During the stop, the trooper became aware that Mohamud was subject to bail conditions preventing him from owning firearms and from being out of his home between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Based on the time of the stop, Mohamud was allegedly in violation of his bail conditions, and the trooper initiated a search of his vehicle.

During the search, the trooper discovered two allegedly stolen handguns.

Mohamud was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he faces charges of violating conditions of release and receiving stolen property.
