At around 12:05 p.m., Somerset deputies, along with detectives from the Waterville and Fairfield Police Departments, executed search warrants on Burrill Street for the residence and vehicle of Corey J. Schutz, 31, of Fairfield.
Schutz is a felon with prior drug convictions in Kennebec County.
The Sheriff’s Department Criminal Division obtained the search warrants as part of an investigation into drug trafficking operations in the area, assisted by the federal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) bureau.
During the execution of the warrants, police allegedly discovered a small amount of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, a 9mm handgun, a loaded magazine for the handgun, and documentation related to drug trafficking.
Schutz was arrested and faces charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was issued a $500 bail. He is set to appear in the Somerset District Court, Somerset County Unified Criminal Court, on April 8.

Law enforcement also charged Kimberley Landry, 25, of Fairfield, during the warrant execution with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. Her first court appearance will be in March.
Landry was arrested in January on charges of theft and violating conditions of release.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may follow after the cases are reviewed by the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office.
