NORTH BERWICK, Maine – A North Berwick man is facing a criminal assault charge after police say he intentionally struck Nicholas Blanchard, known on social media as “Corn Pop,” during Thursday night’s RSU 60 school committee meeting, sending Blanchard’s cellphone flying.

North Berwick Police Chief Steven Peasley confirmed in a phone call Monday with The Maine Wire that Trevor Savage, a 35-year-old man from North Berwick, assaulted Blanchard by “throwing an elbow” in what the chief described as an intentional act.

Peasley said the matter is being treated as a criminal act and classified as a Class D misdemeanor, which could lead to jail time.

The incident drew conflicting accounts on Thursday night, with some witnesses initially describing the contact as accidental while others said it was intentional. According to Peasley, the next day, Friday, the school resource officer reviewed school security camera footage and confirmed the assault.

🚨 EVERYONE, MEET THE LEFT-WING THUG FROM LAST NIGHT'S RSU 60 MEETING WHO STRAIGHT-UP ASSAULTED ME ON CAMERA! 👊🔥🤡

This coward is apparently a big-shot trial lawyer out of Lewiston, working for Gideon Asen LLC.

I think EVERYONE should pick up the phone, call his boss, and ask… pic.twitter.com/BJ1H7PiSi0

In a statement to The Maine Wire, Blanchard said:

“No one is above the law in Maine, not even big shot, left-wing trial lawyers like Slap Happy Trevor Savage. You can’t go smashing a concerned parent’s hand and phone on camera at a public meeting because you are throwing a tantrum over folks speaking up. Glad to see the North Berwick PD holding him accountable with that formal assault charge. Justice doesn’t play favorites and looks like Slap Happy Trevor messed with Corn Pop and he FAFO.”

No official police report is currently available. The Maine Wire will post it when the report is completed.
