State Police responded at approximately 7:46 a.m. to reports of a domestic disturbance at a Cross Lake Township residence.
The caller informed the police that her boyfriend was allegedly threatening her and destroying things in their home.
By the time the troopers arrived, the caller had already fled the residence.
Troopers found the suspect, Nicolas Dionne, 37, of Cross Lake Township, still inside the residence.
He allegedly refused to exit the building, and the Maine State Police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene.
After several hours-long standoff, negotiators convinced Dionne to exit the residence, and he was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 8:00 p.m., over 12 hours after the initial police response.
He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail and faces charges of domestic violence, criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing, and creating a police standoff.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
