At approximately 1:45 p.m., the Westbrook Police and Westbrook Fire Department responded to the Westbrook Crossing Shopping Center at 11 Main Street following reports of a vehicle crashing through the AT&T store.

No pedestrians on the sidewalk, store employees, or customers were injured in the crash.

The driver, identified as a 47-year-old woman from Portland, had to be extracted from the car by emergency personnel and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Investigators believe the crash was caused by the driver suffering a medical incident, and no charges are expected to be filed.

After extracting the driver, the Westbrook Fire Department worked to stabilize the building and remove the vehicle. Based on images of the incident, the damage to the building appears substantial.

Two businesses remain closed as a result of the crash.
