Maine State Police Investigating Deaths in Augusta and Standish

The Maine State Police is investigating unrelated deaths in Augusta and Standish that occurred just one day apart.

On Monday, at approximately 11:15 p.m., the Augusta Police Department responded to an unspecified incident on Flagg Street.

When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased adult male, and the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit began an investigation.

The body was transported to the Office of the Maine Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death and to identify the man.

Police promised to release more information as it became appropriate to do so, but no additional information has been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

The State Police had another death to investigate on Tuesday, this time in Standish.

At around 9:28 p.m., Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Kennie Drive for reports of an altercation.

When deputies arrived, they found a deceased man at the residence. A second man was also located, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a local hospital.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and transported the body to the Office of the Maine Medical Examiner.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the police have not yet released the name of the deceased.
