The Lincoln Police Department arrested a Clifton man on Monday after he was allegedly found with drugs, a firearm, and thousands in cash while unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle and stopped in the road.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Lincoln Police Department responded to reports of an erratic driver in the area of West Broadway and Penobscot Valley Avenue.
The caller reported that a black Mazda CX-50 with Massachusetts plates was swerving, repeatedly altering speed, and nearly leaving the roadway.
Officers arrived to find the vehicle stopped in the roadway near the West Broadway-River Road intersection.
Police noticed that the driver, Anthony Smith, 31, of Clifton, appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel and made contact.
Smith exited the vehicle after officers made contact, and they allegedly noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle.
Further investigation allegedly revealed illegal drugs and a firearm, and officers searched the vehicle.
Police reportedly seized approximately 500 grams of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamines, $4,656 in cash, a single-shot firearm, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.
Smith was arrested and transported to the Lincoln Police Station for an investigation into possible operating under the influence of drugs.
He was charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, criminal operating under the influence of drugs, and operating after habitual offender revocation.
He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Brewer Police Department, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Lincoln Fire/EMS assisted in the investigation.
Police thanked the citizen who reported the erratic driving.
