The island Chellie Pingree farms “organically” has a growing problem – mounds of trash.

The few trash attendants North Haven had walked off the job, leaving garbage management to volunteers.

“Despite advertising widely through multiple forums, within our local community, and on neighboring islands, we have not yet received interest from any applicants,”  Rebekah Carmichael-Austin, North Haven’s town administrator, told the island newspaper.

“As a result, the town has been working to temporarily cover operations while continuing recruitment efforts,” Carmichael-Austin added.

So the call goes out to U.S. Rep. Chellie: Forget whatever you’re not doing in Washington, jump on your damn private Democrap plane, get up here and get your hands dirty.

It’s the organic thing to do.

The Midcoast Villager says trash on an island is even more of a headache than on the mainland.

Island school guidance counselor Kelsey Jones said she had accumulated so much trash, primarily from diapers, she was storing it in the bins reserved for her neighbors.

How much are they offering to pay the person or persons?

Unless you live on the island, you’re gonna pay more in ferry fees going out there every day then you’ll earn.

and how are they able to keep their dump open when everyone else has had to close theirs?
