Cousins Maine Lobster of TV โShark Tankโ fame has announced a new food-truck in the heartland.
A new midwest franchise representing the family-owned Maine seafood company will open April 25.
The St. Louis, Missouri food truck featuring Cousins โfast casual lobster rollsโ represents continued national growth, company officials said.
Cousins said it โhas built a loyal following by delivering premium, wild-caught Maine lobster through its signature fleet of food trucks and brick-and-mortar locations.โ
The company features Maine lobster but was actually founded in California by cousins Sabin Lomac and Jim Tselikis.
They appeared in 2012 on the TV show Shark Tank, where they partnered with real estate mogul and shark Barbara Corcoran.
Since then, Cousins has franchised to expand across the U.S. and claims to be โone of the top Shark Tank investments of all time.โ
The idea for Cousins Maine Lobster came in 2011 when and Lomac and Tselikis were discussing food they used to eat while growing up in Portland.
Impressed with the Los Angeles food-truck industry, they decided to start selling Maine lobster in the L.A. area.
The first truck opened in 2012 and by 2014 had four trucks in southern California and ten franchises throughout the country.
The company received an investment of $55,000 from Corcoran after appearing on Shark Tank.
