The Bangor Police Department arrested a man on Monday after he allegedly attempted to forcibly drag a woman into an apartment and resisted arrest.

At approximately 1:25 p.m., multiple callers reported that a man on Basketball Court was placing his hands on a woman and dragging her into a building.

Officer Jared Fox responded to the reports with his cruiser lights and sirens active, but dispatch informed him that the woman had allegedly been forced into a car, and the suspect had fled.

Fox spotted a vehicle matching the description provided turning off of Basketball Court and driving toward Kenduskeag Ave.

The officer turned to follow the vehicle and saw it turning onto Husson Ave before losing sight of it.

He later located it on Cynthia Ave and approached the suspect.

Officer Fox attempted to take Harold English, 24, of Bangor into custody, but when he learned he was going to jail, he allegedly became uncooperative, though Fox was able to secure him in the cruiser.

He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with domestic violence assault, criminal restraint, refusal to submit to arrest or detention, and assault.
