A Bangor man was sentenced to six years in prison on Thursday after he admitted to trafficking fentanyl from Massachusetts to Maine while in court-mandated treatment following an earlier burglary conviction.
Bradley Bellfleur, 33, will spend the next six years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release after he pleaded guilty in July 2024 to a federal charge of conspiring to distribute fentanyl.
Bellfleur was enrolled in Penobscot Adult Treatment and Recovery Court in Bangor as part of his court sentence following a 2022 burglary conviction.
While Bellfleur was in court-mandated treatment, investigators received information that he was trafficking fentanyl.
Investigators executed a search of his residence, and discovered fentanyl along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Messages on Bellfleur’s cell phone and other additional evidence showed that he was working with other traffickers in Massachusetts, and routinely obtained fentanyl for distribution in the Bangor area.
Bellfleur was also previously convicted in 2016 of manufacturing methamphetamine.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, (DEA), the Maine DEA, the FBI, the Maine State Police, and the Bangor Police Department conducted the investigation.
