The Hancock Sheriff’s Department arrested an Eastbrook man on Saturday after he allegedly intentionally forced a motorcycle into a guardrail during a road-rage incident, causing serious injuries before fleeing the scene.

At approximately 12: 26 p.m., The Hancock Regional Communication Center received a call reporting a crash on Blackwoods Road in Franklin.
The caller reported that the crash was caused by a road rage incident during which a pickup struck a motorcycle, forcing it into a guardrail and causing its driver to lose control.
The motorcyclist left the roadway and crashed, sustaining serious injuries.
The caller reported that, after the crash, the pickup driver fled.
When deputies arrived at the scene of the crash, witnesses were able to provide details on the crash and the truck, including its license plate number.
The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, and was transferred by Lifeflight to another hospital for further treatment. As of the time of the press release, published late Saturday night, he remained in stable but serious condition.
The investigation continued into the afternoon, and deputies eventually located the suspect and his vehicle.
The suspect was identified as Shannon Abbott, 43, of Eastbrook. He was arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail where he faces charges of elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated driving to endanger, and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.
All the charges Abbott faces are felonies.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
