A Bangor homeless man allegedly attacked coffee shop employees on Monday, throwing items at them while believing that he had supernatural powers.

The Bangor Police Department responded to a coffee shop on Main Street for reports of a man chasing employees and repeatedly throwing items at them.

Officer Curtis Grenier arrived and discovered Tyler Corliss, a 30-year-old homeless man who was subject to six sets of active bail conditions.

During the investigation, Grenier allegedly learned that Corliss had chased one employee out of the store.

Corliss also allegedly threw unspecified items at staff and struck one of the employees.

The suspect reportedly believed he was moving the thrown items with his mind, but security footage allegedly confirmed the less-supernatural account of events.

He was arrested and charged with assault and violation of conditions of release, and was transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

Corliss was previously arrested in April on charges of theft by unauthorized taking and violating conditions of release.

This poor guy has mental health issues that are not being addressed or tended to. He has schizophrenia and is not receiving medical or mental health help. It’s easier to just keep kicking him up and giving him unrealistic release agreements that he can not keep, due to these mental health issues. He needs help, not jail! Incarcerating him isn’t teaching him anything at all, and until he is receiving treatment to get the issues under control, incarceration will continue to waste tax payers money, while continuing to put this man (and others) at risk. There has to be something that can be done to get him off the streets and get him the mental health help he needs!
