Maine Democrat Columnist Claims Collins Didn’t Win Landslide – Then Reverses Himself

The Democrat-friendly Portland Press Herald political columnist is arguing that Republican Susan Collins didn’t really win her 2020 election by nine points.

But then he closes the column by admitting she did.

Can’t make it up folks.

Unless you are the Portland Press Herald.

Columnist Steve Collins wrote a piece arguing that his namesake didn’t really win her last election by nine points.

Since 7 percent of voters cast ballots for two no-name candidates, Collins said, the incumbent actually won by only two points over Democrat Sara Gideon.

Factor in a “ranked choice” option, Collins claims, and there’s even a chance the veteran GOP senator actually may have lost.

Ranked choice had no application in the last election since the winner received more than 59 percent but why let the facts get in the way of a cockamamie theory.

The so-called ranking of ballot placement in counting votes, by the way, is a Democrat game whereby losers win a trophy even if they didn’t place first.

Imagine telling your 9-year-old son that even though his Little League team lost the big game, it actually won since Mommy and Daddy decided his was actually the better team despite its receiving fewer runs.

After using the ranked-choice ruse to argue that Maine’s senior senator may have secretly lost her last election, Collins closes out his column by predicting that no one will win this November’s election by nine points.

In other words, after writing an entire column denying the last election gave the GOP a (huge) nine-point win, Collins concludes that it actually was a nine-point victory.

“Nobody’s going to win this year’s two-person Senate race by a 9-point margin,” Collins concludes, giving a lie to the whole (false) premise he just tried to sell to his readers.

Is it any wonder the Portland Press Herald is followed by only 94,000 people on Facebook compared to the competition’s 210,000?
