Accused rapist and former Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is making his return to the public stage next month as the headline speaker at a Hancock County Democrats event in Ellsworth.

The Hancock County Democrats announced their “Labor Day Rally for Labor” in a Facebook post on Thursday.
The event, set to be held at noon on September 7 at the Ellsworth City Hall, will feature musical performances and the disgraced former Senate candidate Platner.
Platner, who dropped out of the race after credible rape allegations against him surfaced, has lain low since then and has avoided further public appearances and scrutiny.
Many Democrats have since condemned him following the rape allegations, while others, apparently including the Hancock County Democrats, have continued to support him.
Platner is set to speak “about the history of unions and the important role organized labor has played in our communities and our country.”
The Maine Wire reached out by phone to the Hancock Democrats, but their office is not open on Thursdays. They did not immediately respond to an email requesting a comment on the decision to host an accused rapist as their event’s headline speaker.
Unions are parasites, force you to join just to have a job. Public unions are the worst, negotiating contracts with the same people they donate dues to.
