The Bangor Police Department arrested a homeless man on Tuesday after he allegedly attacked an emergency medical service worker while being transported in an ambulance.

At approximately 4:49 p.m. on Monday, the Bangor Police and emergency medical services responded to 245 Main Street, Davenport Park, for reports of an incident.
As part of the response to that incident—the nature of which police did not reveal—an ambulance transported Perry Newell, 36, homeless.
Newell was subject to 17 active sets of bail conditions.
While he was being transported, Newell allegedly kicked an emergency responder in the head, causing a minor head injury.
He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and subsequently released.
The next day, police located Newell and took him into custody.
He was charged with assault on an emergency medical services person and 17 counts of violating conditions of release.
This guy needs to be transported “ somewhere “ but it ain’t a hospital and it ain’t jail .
