A popular upscale Boston bar is out of sorts after losing its license for two days following a bizarre social ritual and underage serving.

Liquor enforcement agents say they pulled Barcelona Wine Bar’s license temporarily.

In one incident, they observed a barkeep stand on the bar and pour wine in a patron’s mouth from a porrón.

A porrón is a traditional Spanish glass vessel designed for communal drinking without touching the spout.

As part of an agreement to keep its license, the bar will use juice and soda for the communal pouring tradition.

The restaurant will also refrain from serving it from the bar, and will instead serve it from the ground or, if elevated, from a chair or stepladder.

The Tremont Street bar, which also has locations in Brookline and Cambridge, was also cited for several incidents serving underage patrons.

The Spanish eatery fired the server who brought over drinks for a table of six people under 21, bought new license scanners and will card more people than before, according to UniversalHub.com.

The license suspension was based on the underage serving, while the wine ritual triggered a change in policy without sanction.
