A bank robber from Sanford allegedly escaped from custody in Manchester, New Hampshire, last month, prompting a federal indictment handed down on Wednesday.

A federal grand jury in the U.S. District Court of New Hampshire indicted Michel D’Angelo, 46, of Sanford last week on one count of escape from custody.
The indictment alleges that, on July 18, D’Angelo escaped federal custody when he left the Hampshire House Residential Reentry Center in Manchester, NH, without permission.
The charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Marshals are investigating the case.
D’Angelo was sentenced in 2014 to 15 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release following a federal bank robbery conviction.
In September 2012, D’Angelo robbed the Kennebunk Savings Bank in Berwick while disguised as a woman and wearing a sweat suit, wig, and sunglasses, and carrying a purse.
He used surgical tape to cover the tattoo on his fingers reading “Real Deal” and a scarf to obscure the “Karma” tattoo on his neck.
During the robbery, he approached the teller, demanded cash, and threatened to set off a bomb if the teller refused to comply.
He initially escaped with $1,300 before his arrest.
He was given a harsher sentence because he had a career of prior violent criminal convictions.
Maybe he should do 50 years this time. Seems reasonable since he seems to have no disregard for the law.
