Sussman buys stake in MaineToday Media

The Portland Press Herald is reporting that Donald Sussman, billionaire husband of Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, has loaned the financially-troubled MaineToday Media between $3 million and $4 million in exchange for a 5% ownership stake and a seat on the board of directors.

During the interview, Sussman said he has no intent of using his new position to advance his personal views. He said he sees the investment largely as a civic responsibility, not a business venture.

“I will have nothing to do with editorial policy and control or anything like that,” he said.
