The Norway Police Department arrested a fugitive wanted on multiple warrants on Wednesday following a seven-hour standoff involving the Maine State Police Tactical Team.

The Norway Police received credible information that Daniel Chamberland was inside 6 Hazen Street, Apartment 1.

Chamberland was subject to two active arrest warrants and a probation revocation, and was a suspect in a slew of other crimes, including the theft of at least two cars, a commercial burglary, and a robbery, along with thefts of at least four firearms from Norway, Paris, and Oxford.

The Oxford and Paris Police Departments and Oxford Sheriff’s Department responded to establish a perimeter around Chamberland’s residence.

Law enforcement spent several hours attempting to make contact with Chamberland but was unsuccessful.

Eventually, due to the numerous risk factors posed by Chamberland, the State Police Tactical Team responded to assist in the warrant execution.

After a seven-hour standoff, Chamberland ultimately surrendered and was transported to the Oxford County Jail.
