The Maine State Police arrested a New Hampshire man on Wednesday after he allegedly crashed through an active construction zone in Kennebunk.
At approximately 1:25 a.m., troopers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in an active construction zone on I-95 northbound near mile marker 24 in Kennebunk.
The initial investigation revealed that Brandon Perry, 28, of Dover, NH, was allegedly traveling at high speeds in a 2020 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck when he struck several traffic cones and a mobile construction sign board.
The truck came to a stop with the sign board stuck in the front.
Responders needed to use heavy-duty wrecking equipment to remove the sign board from the truck’s grille.
Construction workers were approximately 100 yards away conducting bridge repairs at the time of the crash.
Perry reportedly told troopers his vehicle had been experiencing mechanical problems leading up to the crash.
Investigators found that both speed and the vehicle’s condition contributed to the crash.
Perry was charged with driving to endanger after being evaluated by medical responders at the scene and refusing further treatment.
