Nearly Half Of Homeschool Parents Cite ‘Liberal’ Public Schools As Motivating Factor: POLL

Almost half of parents turning to homeschooling today say they are concerned about their children being “influenced by liberal viewpoints,” according to a Washington Post and George Mason University poll released Tuesday.

The number of American families that are homeschooling saw a significant spike following the COVID-19 pandemic, with one study finding that the number had risen by 30% during the 2021-2022 school year, according to the Urban Institute. A new poll found that, when asked why they decided to homeschool, 46% of families replied that they were worried that “local public schools” are “too influenced by liberal viewpoints,” according to the Post.

Parents have grown increasingly dissatisfied with public schools in recent months after a series of controversies regarding policies that hide preferred pronouns from parents and allow transgender students to use whatever bathroom or locker room they wish. State lawmakers have waded into the debate by passing legislation to provide more transparency and protect parental rights, while some government officials have punished school districts for not pushing transgender and LGBTQ ideology in the classroom.

Traditionally, faith has been the primary motivation for homeschooling, but the poll found that religious reasons for taking children out of public schools had dropped by 30% since 2012, according to the Post. However, 68% of parents cite a desire to provide “moral instruction” as one of the reasons to opt out of public schooling and nearly half of those parents said that they based this on their “religious values.”

Other top reasons for pulling kids out were concerns about school environments at 74% and discontent regarding public school academic instruction at 64%, according to the poll. Fears about school shootings and bullying also ranked high at 62% and 58% respectively.

Both public and homeschooling parents indicated that they were confident about their child’s proficiency in math, reading, science and history, according to the poll.

The poll was conducted from Aug. 1-10 with a national sample of 1,027  families with children between the ages of 5-20. The margin of error was determined to be 1.8%.

Kudos to parents who have removed their children from today’s Public Indoctrination Centers. Let me them grow up, as children, naturally to form their own opinions while giving them the tools needed to do so.

Which is why they will try to shut down homeschooling.

The department of education is not going to become more Godly, righteous or decent. It will continue further into witchcraft, homosexuality and pagan idolatry. It will continue to destroy the children until it is forced out of existence.

Homeschool, homeschool, homeschool!!! We did with our kids and don’t regret one second of it. You don’t have to plan your lives around the school calendar, and you actually get to have a relationship with your children. It’s a win-win.

As long as commies can continue to influence the vast majority of children, and thus pick future Marxist leaders to run government, they don’t care if a few kids get homeschooled. Those homeschooled kids will still be forced to live under the same Marxist leadership that the Marxists vote for.
Sure, homeschooling is a nice, temporary bandaid. But if you want to keep this country from becoming communist, you’re going to have to get communist indoctrinators disguised as teachers out of public schools.
How do you do THAT? How do you catch them? You VOTE and knock on doors for schoolboard candidates who will put cameras in every public school classroom. Then you password-protect those cameras so that only parents with a child in that class have access to them (the whole minor thing).
SERIOIS QUESTION: Why do we put cameras on taxpayer-funded police officers to protect criminals from rogue cops, but we don’t put cameras in classrooms to protect our children from rogue, taxpayer-funded public school teachers? It makes no sense whatsoever.
Putting cameras in public school classrooms will do one of two things.
1) It will catch them indoctrinating kids, which will justify firing them and stopping them from indoctrinating another year of kids.
2) It will cause them to stop indoctrinating for fear of being caught doing so on camera by a parent and getting fired.
Either way, the indoctrination will stop and it will save public school kids from growing up indoctrinated and outvoting your homeschooled kids.

There is nothing “liberal” about today’s schools. A “liberal” education is one that teaches children HOW to think, not WHAT to think.

Stop calling them “liberals”. Classical liberals believed in free markets, laissez-faire economies, civil liberties, rule of law, limited government, freedom of speech and so on.
These people are cultural Marxists!

Public schools cannot be fixed.
Whatever victories gained trying to fix public schools will need to be monitored beyond the capacity of hundreds of volunteers. The teacher unions and their allies such as the ACLU own government schools. They will quickly take back any lost ground and they will not hesitate to do it in an under-handed manner while your group operates honestly and ethically.
I am a retired teacher and unequivocally proclaim that there is no hope for America if Christians and conservatives allow their children to be indoctrinated in the public schools. We must rescue our children!
