A man and woman were arrested in Westbrook last Friday after allegedly trespassing into a home and setting up a tent in its basement, according to a Tuesday press release by the Westbrook Police Department.

Last Friday at approximately 2 p.m., Westbrook Police Officers responded to a residence on Church St. in Westbrook for a report of two suspects that were trespassing on the property, and had set up a tent in the basement of the residence.

When officers located the two suspects in the basement, they discovered that the pair did not live at the residence and were refusing to leave.

After officers eventually got them to leave, the two suspects attempted to go back on the property, and then obstructed the roadway.

Upon officers attempting to take the pair into custody, the male suspect fought with officers — punching one officer in the face and biting another, police said.

The officers were evaluated on the scene by EMS and did not require a transport to the hospital.

Damian Green, 37, of Westbrook, was charged with two counts of Assault on an Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Refusing to Submit to Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Aggravated Criminal Trespass, Obstructing a Public Way, and Failure to Provide Name and Date of Birth.

Rachel Palange, a 26-year-old transient, was also arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing Government Administration, Possession of Scheduled Drugs, and Violation of Conditions of Release.

These horrible people need 30 days in the county jail to rethink their strategy. The dude looks like a career criminal and his red head girlfriend looks like a junkie.

If that was my house, those two would never be found.
