The White House has faced heavy criticism for its video unveiling First Lady Jill Biden’s White House Christmas decorations, featuring a bizarre tap dance production put on by the group of “anti-racist” activists.
“Joe Biden forces entire nation to watch with horror as group of gender-fluid dancers unveil White House Christmas decoration in painfully cringe video,” said conservative commentator Benny Johnson on X.
The video has been criticized as “disturbing” and has been compared unfavorably to former First Lady Melania Trump’s decorations under President Donald Trump.
The dancers preformed a modern, frenetic version of The Nutcracker, featuring a female Nutcracker and a man dressed as a rat playing air-guitar.
Dorrance Dance, the troupe who performed the unsettling spectacle, uses its website to push far-left agendas on race, and features a page in which Michelle Dorrance, founder of Dorrance Dance, apologizes for her whiteness and alleged privilege.
“I am a white tap dancer with Black cultural ancestors in a society that privileges white people and whiteness. I am easy for white audiences wanting to access and experience elements of Black culture to swallow. My whiteness is the reason you may have heard of me before two of my inspirations,” said Dorrance.
The company’s website includes links to 95 petitions, many promoting far-left positions such as “Abolish prison Labor in the USA,” or the enigmatic petition “Join me in supporting the injustice of Darius Stewart,” which supports injustice rather than opposing it.
The company also campaigns for the abolition of the police and prisons.
“Tap dance was born on the slave plantation in horrific circumstances. To learn the heritage of tap dance is to learn the history of racial inequality in America,” says the company.
“To be a tap dancer is to be an ambassador to the world for the unsung history of a Black art form,” said Dorrance.
Despite the politically motivated dance production, the White House claims that its Christmas display is meant to show the innocent joy of childhood.
“The 2023 White House Holiday Display is designed to capture the pure, unfiltered delight and imagination of childhood,” said the White House press release.
