Following autopsies from the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the deaths of two adults found in Searsmont Monday were determined to have been a murder-suicide.

The two deceased adults were found shortly after 2 p.m. Monday and were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of their deaths.

The individuals were identified as 50-year-old Amy Nickerson of Stockton Springs, and 50-year-old Lance Lucas of Searsmont.

The death of Amy Nickerson was ruled a homicide, and the cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

The death of Lance Lucas was ruled a suicide, also by gunshot wound.

The Maine State Police say Nickerson and Lucas were domestic partners who had recently broken up.

Detectives with Maine State Police’s Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the incident.
