Lewiston Police announced Wednesday that an arrest has been made in connection to a robbery of a local convenience store.
Police say they were dispatched to the store on Tuesday, March 12 at approximately 6:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery.
After reviewing surveillance footage, speaking to witnesses, and gathering evidence, Lewiston Police identified 25-year-old Ali Abdi Mohamed, of Lewiston, as the suspect.
Police say they tracked Mohamed to an apartment in Lewiston where he attempted to flee but was subsequently apprehended.
Mohamed was charged with robbery, violations of conditions of release, and outstanding warrants of domestic violence assault, violating conditions of release, assault, refusing to submit to arrest, and failure to appear for an unlawful possession of scheduled drugs charge.
Police say Mohamed was out on bail at the time of his arrest for the robbery.
Mohamed remains at the Androscoggin County Jail.
