No Labels announced Thursday that it will not be advancing a ticket in the 2024 presidential election.
This comes just weeks after the group decided to proceed forward with the candidate selection process after receiving feedback from members a “Unity Ticket” was desired.
According to the organization, they have opted to not offer a presidential slate this November because no candidates emerged during their selection process that they felt had a realistic chance of success in the general election.

“Americans remain more open to an independent presidential run, and hungrier for unifying national leadership, than ever before,” the organization said in a statement Thursday, “But No Labels has always said we would only offer our ballot line to a ticket if we could identify candidates with a credible path to winning the White House.”
“No such candidates emerged, so the responsible course of action is for us to stand down,” the group wrote.
“No Labels will build on the momentum we have gained over the last year to continue representing unity and giving voice to America’s commonsense majority,” said the organization. “We will also remain engaged over the next year during what is likely to be the most divisive presidential election of our lives. We will promote dialogue around major policy challenges and call out both sides when they speak and act in bad faith.”
“Post-election, No Labels will be prepared to champion and defend the values and interests of America’s commonsense majority,” the group continued. “We will also bring our citizens and leaders together for a summit to discuss the path forward for our community and our nation.”
“Suffice it to say that this movement is not done,” No Labels concluded. “In fact, it is just beginning.”
No Labels officially became a qualified political party in Maine earlier this year when Secretary of State Shenna Bellows certified that the group had surpassed the state’s 5,000 voter threshold for election participation.
According to Secretary Bellows, 9,423 Mainers had registered as members of the No Labels party as of January 2, 2024.

No Labels has recently come under heightened scrutiny in Maine over allegations that volunteers for the group had engaged in questionable voter registration practices while working towards obtaining official recognition in the state.
In May of 2023, Bellows issued a statement responding to “numerous complaints” that voters were “surprised to find out” that their registration had been switched to No Labels.
More recently, several town clerks raised questions about the legitimacy of the voter registration cards sent in by No Labels, while others shared stories of voters telling them outright that they had no intention of changing their registration to No Labels.

According to the most recent Pan Atlantic Research Omnibus Poll released in February of this year, former President Donald Trump (R) was leading President Joe Biden (D) by 6 percentage points in Maine, with a combined 30 percent of respondents indicating that they were either planning on voting for another candidate or had not yet made up their mind.

It is not yet clear how No Labels’ decision to not run a presidential ticket will impact who Mainers consider supporting as the November election draws near.
