Both of Maine’s U.S. Representatives, along with U.S. Sen. Angus King, an Independent who caucuses with Democrats, have received funding from sources affiliated with groups facilitating the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protests which have embroiled campuses across the country.

According to a Politico report, Democrat mega-donors from the Soros, Rockefeller, and Pritzker families have all been linked to the organizations directly involved in organizing and funding the campus protests.

One of those sources, Democrat mega donor George Soros, also reportedly backs the National Trust for Local News, which recently purchased numerous local newspapers in Maine, including the Portland Press Herald and its sister papers.

According to the Politico report, campus protests, which have led to vandalism and violence, have been supported in large part by Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, two anti-Zionist Jewish organizations dedicated to stopping the U.S. from sending military aid to Israel for its war against Hamas.

Politico found that those two organizations are, in part, supported by the Tides Foundation, a left-wing organization dedicated to “social justice.”

The Tides Foundation receives substantial funding from Soros, and previously received support from Bill and Melinda Gates, although their support for the organization stopped long before the campus protests began.

The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which supports numerous left wing groups, and brags that it was instrumental in the establishment of Planned Parenthood, has also supported the Tides Foundation, and made direct contributions to Jewish Voice for Peace, according to Politico.

According to Politico’s investigation, numerous organizations involved in the pro-Palestine protests have also received support from the Pritzker family.

The Pritzker family, one of the richest in the United States, has given to numerous Democratic political campaigns, including that of President Joe Biden.

Many of the same families behind the funding of campus protests have also contributed to Maine’s Democrat politicians.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Golden (ME-CD2), who is currently running for re-election against State Reps. Mike Soboleski (R-Philips) and Austin Theriault (R-Fort Kent), received thousands of dollars in contributions from members of the mega-donor families.

In 2023, Golden received a total of $9,900 from the Soros family, with two of George Soros’ sons, Jonathan and Alexander, along with Jonathan’s wife Jennifer, each giving Golden $3,300 for his primary campaign.

This year, Golden also received $1,666 from Daniel Pritzker, a member of the Democrat mega-donor family, who has personally given to numerous Democratic campaigns across the country.

Maine’s other U.S. Representative, Chellie Pingree (ME-CD1), another Democrat, has also received funding from the Pritzkers, bringing in $3,986 from Jennifer Pritzker in 2021.

Jennifer Pritzker has personally given to numerous Democratic campaigns and organizations, while also donating to both Nikki Haley and Chris Christie in their Republican primary campaigns which largely focused on attacking former President Donald Trump.

Rep. Pingree also received money from Marilyn Moss Rockefeller, a businesswoman who married into the Rockefeller family and currently lives in Camden, Maine, and who has given to numerous Democrats across the country.

Marilyn Rockefeller has given Pingree $4,000 since 2021.

Sen. King has also benefited from Marilyn Rockefeller’s “philanthropy”, receiving $2,500 from her in 2023.

Bill Gates, who previously funded the Tides Foundation, contributed $6,600 to King in the same year.
