Republican Super PAC Targets Maine As Part of $141 Million Ad Buy

The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a Republican super PAC endorsed by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and House Republican leadership, has announced that it will spend $141 million in initial ad reservations ahead of the November elections — including millions of dollars targeting cities in Maine.

“CLF’s initial ad reservations are larger than any previous election cycle to date,” the super PAC announced in a Wednesday press release. “We’re reserving nearly $20 million more than in 2022, when Republicans took back the House, and more than three times the amount from 2020, when Republicans picked up fifteen seats.”

The CLF announcement comes as incumbent Democratic Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) is expected to face a competitive election this November, against either first term Republican State Reps. Mike Soboleski (R-Phillips) or Austin Theriault (R-Fort Kent), both of whom are vying to be the one to take on Golden after the June 11 primary.

Election forecaster the Cook Political Report moved Maine’s 2024 2nd District race to a “Democrat Toss Up” designation in November following Golden’s flip-flop on an assault weapons ban in the aftermath of the Oct. 25 mass shooting in Lewiston.

According to CLF, the super PAC ad buys throughout the State of Maine amount to $1.7 million in Bangor, $1.4 million in Portland-Auburn and $95,000 in Presque Isle.

“This is a significant early down payment on Republicans holding the House Majority,” CLF President Dan Conston said Wednesday. “The map is undoubtedly small, and we are in a dogfight. Yet we are in a stronger position than the mainstream narrative suggests, with a promising political environment and standout Members and candidates in the toughest races. Effective campaigns and resources will really matter.”

The ONLY reason Golden won was because of that ridiculous ranked choice voting scheme . It’s the system where losers get to pick the winners . Watch to see ALL if our future elections all get flooded with third party candidates secretly funded by the democrats . The more names on a ballot the better the chance they have of winning . Golden is a tool .
I hope the republicans DO spend more to start promoting our candidates . Maine is full of low information , virtue signaling , feel good voters , who seem to want to continue to allow this democrat / progressive assault on our tradition way of life . THEY are the ones who were hoodwinked and voted for this insane ranked choice scheme in the first place . Our current democrat craziness is NOT the way life should be . Vote them out in November !

They should save their money and spend it elsewhere. Maine is hopeless.
