Two Arrested on Drug Charges After Traffic Stop in Portland

22-year-old Roger Sockabasin of Portland and 23-year-old Habiib Mohamed of South Portland were arrested.

A traffic stop in Portland over the weekend led to the arrest of two men on drug charges, Portland Police announced Tuesday.

According to police, the traffic stop occurred at 58 Alder Street (Bayside Bowl bowling alley) shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Roger Sockabasin of Portland, was arrested on a warrant for violating conditions of release, operating with a suspended or revoked license and unlawful possession of schedule Z drugs.

Schedule Z drugs, under Maine state law, include marijuana, certain prescription drugs and methamphetamine precursors.

Also arrested was a passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Habiib Mohamed of South Portland.

Mohamed was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Police say Mohamed was in possession of 93 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine).
